Some kids get crushes on boys. Some kids get crushes on girls. Some kids get crushes on boys and girls.

I don't get the freakout here.

Really OP, why would this bother you in the slightest? Not your child. Keep your homophobic thoughts to yourself. It is 2017 and there is a spectrum of feelings/love for everyone.

I came out as bi at 13, so don't really understand your concern.

I feel some of this is a cry for attention.

Is there a reason why such an announcement needs to be taken so seriously?

Another BiPhobia post. Yay. This doesn't get old at all.

I was Bi then just as I am now. I didn't even know what the word was then.

All I was....was SUICIDAL because of small minded people like you and PP.

It's just a new, but rather extreme, way of vocalizing an age-old feeling: a girl crush.

So this isn't your child? Or was your child trying to feel you out for some truth?
I'm a woman. I've liked boys then men since I could remember. I imiagine if I liked women as a girl I probably would've like girls. This just doesn't seem so complicated to me. My natural attraction seems so unwavering.

There is a wide range in the age of sexual awakening. 12 seems to be on the young side, but still normal. I was a very late bloomer

I thought I might be bisexual at 12 because I had a big girl crush on a girl in my class, but I knew I liked boys too. I didn’t truly understand the difference. I was a very naive, somewhat sheltered kid, and this was 30 years ago, so it is absolutely no surprise to me that bisexuality is on the radar of 2017 tweens.

People come out publicly now. Kids are ever more sophisticated. Whether she is bi or not, “coming out” at 12 might be jumping the gun, but I don’t think it’s wrong in any moral sense.

Why would it be wrong, op? It's sick, distorted and either a very sad cry for attention, or a sign of something seriously wrong in her life. You can't see that?

Thirdhand information. Unreliable.

It's National coming Out day so it does not sound weird.

I'd be more concerned that a 12 year old has a boyfriend. Wait til high school at least. Regardless of sexual orientation.

My 12 year old daughter told me about a girl her age who came out as bisexual at school today. I should mention that this girl happens to have a boyfriend. If this girl had come out as a Lesbian I wouldn't have a problem, but something about a 12 year old with a boyfriend feeling the need to publicly declare herself as bisexual seems wrong to me.
