I had a great experience recently with interior house painters from CASA de Maryland. They have skilled workers for everything you can think of.

If it's physically intensive unskilled labor, that is quite low. We generally offer $25/hr but end up paying $30+/hr if people do good work (which almost every day laborer we have hired has done).

I've never seen any day laborers at this location or at the Home Depot on Shady Grove. Closest location I've seen to this area is the aforementioned UHaul on the corner of Randolph and Parklawn.

I just used task rabbit for the first time and it was a very positive experience for 1/2 days work.

Ok, follow-up. I ended up going to Home Depot on Rhode Island even though it wasn’t that close. I haven’t hired day laborers in something like 8 years, but again I had an excellent experience (and he walked away with $160 for 6.5 hours’ work).

To answer the other poster’s question, no, you definitely don’t interview people! It’s honestly pretty random, I avoid the folks that are super-aggressive and just pick someone that’s hanging back a bit. I do speak some Spanish, which helps a lot.

Many are at Home Depot on Rhode Island Ave. I was going to do this. Do you interview them? Do you get their names?

Why not hire a legit handyman and pay him a living wage?

If You are on dcum surely you can afford to and are supportive of paying a living wage and the fair share of taxes.

We live in upper NW near the Montgomery County border. We need some assistance on a project we're working tomorrow, and it's been years since I've hired anyone. Where can we go?
