Bullpucky. Driving in at 7/7:30 is a breeze. Things are still backed up at 9, which means dropoff for HB (and more importantly, the Stratford program) is going to be a mess. Not that I care, because eff them and their unwillingness to expand the program by more than a few students, but the logistics would be better for APS MS hours.

And the Stratford MS parents are whining about APS MS hours, too. I can only imagine what APS teachers have to endure in the way of Defense of the Precious Darlings.


Not sure what you wanted--costs to add more floors in a high rise increase exponentionally once you get above 6 floors, so expanding H-B would have cost tens of millions more if you moved it to Rosslyn or if you kept it at the Stratford building (and expanded that building while also renovating the Wilson building for a middle school).

HB starts after elementary, maybe around 9:20. It keeps a different schedule.

What % would have ridden the bus if it were a neighborhood school? Less than a choice school.


You do understand the reason why parents are upset is because back when it was an "urban high [sic] school" they were going to have around 1400 middle school students then.

They are spending even more now on the HB school, for less than 1000.

That's the issue about the fancy building; they have smaller population but the budget has risen.

As for riding the bus, during the presentations they talked about the middle school population in Rosslyn -- it is nonexistent. You *might* get some walkers from Lyon Village, but by middle school most families have moved out of the apartments and small townhouses that are the vast majority of Rosslyn real estate.

Where do you live that a MS in Rosslyn is attractive to you?

Well they are doing better than those who can't even bother to realize it was an urban middle school.

Man traffic in Rosslyn is going to be awful once those buses start rolling in; I bet kids will be on buses 20 minutes just waiting to pull into the drop off lane. And Nestle isn't even here yet.

I know some neighbors are hoping that we'll be redistricted out of Williamsburg's problems, but I'm concerned because, obviously, Stratford is a complete unknown. Any predictions or insight on the "feel" of the new school? It won't be quite as wealthy as Williamsburg, correct?
