Because I have a right to eat in a place of public accommodation location that is reasonably sanitary and free of animals. I dislike dogs. They are filthy. They eat feces. They typically have fecal coliform bacteria on their snouts. The same snouts that they are constantly touching everything and everyone in reach with. How would you like it if I wiped my ass with my bare hand, then proceeded to touch everything and every surface around where you were eating? Would you enjoy seeing that?
Or better, would you tell a black woman to stay home because she didn't want to eat in a restaurant frequented by klansmen or nazis? Because that's her problem?
Grow up. The world does not care about your dog. And we don't want your dog shoved into every aspect of our experience while we're out in public.

Also, Loudoun County is becoming THE place to go to visit wineries and breweries, most of which allow dogs. I was at one this weekend and a majority of the cars in the parking log were from DC & MD and most had dogs with them.
It's rare to go to brunch or dinner in Arlington and not have at least one dog on the patio.
I've also yet to encounter any ill-behaved pooches while dining out.

I know, they just urinate and defecate right where they are, it's foul. And they shout and scream and get their grubby little hands all over everything, and - oh wait did you say dogs? Nah I'm cool with them, they mostly just lay quietly at their owners' feet. Now kids, those unsanitary stinky things should definitely be banned.
