I was given a couple of pairs by friends who were -- you guess it -- going out of business. Two small patterns and a solid. Also some for my little girl.

All of them are so cozy, but the patterned leggings are SO ugly. I just don't understand how this was a sustainable thing and why women built like me especially (plus sized pears) ever thought this was attractive enough to wear outside the house.

Because part of the marketing tactic was creating some hysteria over "hard to find" prints (or really, plain prints). The more women would compete to find these special items, the easier it was to unload the ugly shit, and everyone spent more money than planned.

Never been a fan. I like tailored clothing. They have garish prints and are basically hideous. Why anyone gets into MLM is beyond me. It's a scam.

OP here. The two I refer to above also were not desperate for the money and also have little kids. I don't get it.

Agree. The patterns are hideous, with the exception of maybe some of the fun holiday prints. They are cozy and well-made (at least the few pairs I got for my DD when I went to one of the parties for a friend). But, most of the stuff was awful.

Maybe this will be a wake up call for all of the other idiots who are peddling other MLM crap (R&F, Stella & Dot, etc.).

A friend of mine was able to return the bulk of her inventory. She got out of it pretty quickly.

I don't know why she bothered to try. She's a FT RN who often works nights and weekends, her DH is often on-call on weekends, too, and she has 2 kids. She has hardly any spare time and no one wants the stuff, clearly.

That's so true. If people are up in arms over a return policy, then why create so many things that merit being returned?

OP here. I agree the clothes are ugly, but that is not even the point of my post.

My point was - how are these consultants so indignant that they are stuck with all this inventory they can't sell or return? Isn't that what happens with all trends? Its trendy until...it isn't. Not to mention market saturation.

My DH has two friends (who don't know each other and live in different states) whose wives went into business around the same time and are going out of business at the same time (right now basically.) Both were super gung-ho and annoying and brainwashed when they started, and both are super pissed and resentful now. Neither strikes me as stupid and yet they somehow thought this was a good idea.

I'm having a hard time finding any sympathy for them.

That's the problem. I think they are decent quality and comfortable so I bought a few pairs of leggings and tees but I would always be fighting for the last pair of plain ones (I only bought the plain leggings and tees). But consultants get so few plain items and they tend to get scooped up.

Several "consultants" on my news feed are having "going out of business" sales and even at deeply discounted prices are having trouble unloading their extra merchandise. I mean, I SORT OF feel sorry for them because I know they need the money, but I just can't understand how they ever fell for this scam in the first place.

The market for LLR is getting really saturated in most areas. Not sure a new consultant would really be able to break in.

Of course they lost money. Of course the company screwed them. Of course this was a bad idea. Duh. I'm sure they all had some friend or family member tell them this before they got started. I have no sympathy at all.
