Anyone else - ever use this product and can tell me about their experience it?
Would love to hear from someone out there that may have White Oak 2 1/4" wood (very popular/common) that decided to use Ebony as the stain (also not completely unusual).

(OP here) - Thanks for the feedback. We plan to do a Satin finish as well. We're also buying new furniture and trying to sell our current furniture on craigslist prior to our move date (we'll sell what we can). Good advice on not buying/using dark furniture, I agree the contrast is important.

We have whiteoak floors that were stained dark several years ago. I don't remember the exact stain color but it's more of a satin finish. The grains look fantastic and overall we like it. Is there an area of the floor you can test a few options on? Our flooring people showed us a few choices of stains and also how it looked with one coat vs two. It really helped us narrow down the choice.

Wow thanks for your input PP! Very reassuing. Do you know if you had red or white oak floors? Also, any idea if they were wide planked or 2 1/4”? Lastly, did you select a satin or gloss finish? Thanks again for your time - most appreciate the feedback.

PP again. I just googled Minwax Ebony and that does look like what we used. The container was definitely yellow!

I'm not sure of the brand, but we used a stain called ebony, the darkest they had, on our 100 year old oak floors. I worried it would be too dark, too, but it looks great. (We had to use ebony to cover old water damage.)
I suggest keeping other items light so your house isn't dark all over. We have light walls, white curtains/blinds, white sofa, glass coffee table, etc.
Yes, you can still see grain. Yes, I would choose it again. We have two coats of polyurethane, so it's more matte than shiny.

Hi, Please help - trying to decide on a stain, one option that we're seriously considering is Minwax Ebony 2718 for our White Oak 2 1/4" floors.
Has anyone used this and regretted it?
My concern is that it won't look good - we both like a dark stain, but is it too dark?
Do you still get a good grain?
Is it dark enough and does it well done after it's been stained?
What sort of finish (satan/glossy) do you have?
Would you do it again or do something different and if so what would you do differently?
