Mine too and now I do the same. My daughter believed in Santa until 5th grade. Many of her friends didn't and she looks back (now 16) and now tells me. "Maybe I wasn't sure but I never really cared or thought about it. I knew they were wrong, although I never told them, because of how I felt during the holidays. It was magical, so I loved believing." She now is the BEST older sister with her younger one that is in 3rd and still believes in Santa and the Tooth Fairy. EVERYONE gets presents from Santa.

I have a friend who believed until she was a teenager, and finally her mom had to tell her. It happened! She just truly believed that if her mom said it was true then it was true.

I disagree. Some kids are just not that in the know. Most kids these days don't even want or use the money to sit and fake it for a $1 bill.

OP, no matter what, let the traditions continue. Could she be "scamming" you? Maybe. Could she be relishing in her childhood and internally doesn't want to give it up? Definitely. Could she not be sure 100% and is begin cautious? Sure! Any way - enjoy it. Childhood is a blip on the radar these days.

I faked it for years to get that money lol. I'm sure my kids will do the same and I'll play along.

My dds are 12 and 10. I must admit I am surprised when I hear of their friends who still believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Especially my 12 year old's friends.

That being said - my kids still like the idea of Santa/Tooth Fairy. Even though they don't believe, we still play the game (although not so much with the Tooth Fairy anymore. Sometimes we forget to put money under their pillow for a few days)

My son figured out when he was 4 that I was the tooth fairy, but he always tells me when he loses a tooth even though he's 12 now, and I always put money under his pillow because although we both know what's going on, he's my last little boy.

Who cares? It's a fun family tradition.

I don't agree that she must already know the truth at this age. Obviously most do, but some kids are slower to drop their belief.

What I tell my kids is "those who believe, will receive." So maybe she just wants the money.

I was an amazing liar as a child (still am, actually). I could have totally sold believing in the tooth fairy.

She'll be 11 this fall and lost a molar yesterday. We had stopped doing the tooth fairy for her older brother by that age, I'm sure of it.

She wrote a letter and everything, so I didn't have the heart to skip it. We left something under her pillow as we did in years past. She's definitely not faking it to get a dollar, she really and truly believes.

Is this unusual at her age?
