This is particularly true in the Senate, where 60 votes are needed to break a filibuster. While Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) might not pay a political price for holding E-Verify and DHS’s budget hostage to rewards for illegal aliens, he has a slew of vulnerable senators in his caucus who are facing reelection next year in red or purple states. In particular, those vulnerable Democrats should be forced to explain to their constituents why they are standing in the way of protecting the jobs of American workers.

This is kind of a straw man. I don't support illegal immigration. But it happens and we have to deal with it in a rational and proportional way. And if we want to get serious about it, go after the employers who hire people who are undocumented. Instead of making undocumented people out to be the boogeyman. Sorry. My spouse recently returned from France. Said there were masses of immigrants and police state presence. My spouse looks N African and was moved along a couple of time. When he spoke he was immediately allowed to continue his business there, but clearly they are keeping a close eye on Moroccans etc. Given events in the past five years cannot fault them for that. What a way to live. Pity them all - how do they go forward there? We need thoughtful immigration reform and to not encourage illegal immigration, which is what amnesty does.

I've always wondered how you can support and defend people who are living in the U.S. illegally; people who have jumped ahead of the thousands of others waiting patiently for years to become LEGAL citizens.
