NP here. I think the show is Scientology's harbinger of the end. Their business model is based on loyalty through mind control and using celebrities as a recruitment tool. It's harder to control minds when you have the internet. And the celebrity tactic backfired big time with many of these celebs becoming huge liabilities.

Read "Going Clear" and then watch the HBO Documentary by the same name. It is insane.

I Always wondered how Nicole Kidman was able to marry Keith Urban in the Catholic church without an annulment.

Apparently the Catholic church considers Scientology a full on cult, so they consider a Scientology marriage as completely invalid (since it is done by/managed by the cult).

It was interesting to learn that this is their take as they don't view civil marriages or marriages in other legitimate faith traditions in this way

I read it too. The lack of education, and forced physical labor, separation from parents, etc. All awful.

David Miscavige's niece, Jenna Miscavige Hill, wrote a book about growing up in Scientology. Although her writing (or her ghostwriter's writing) is a little dry, the stories are still fascinating.

Obsessed with this show. Next week's show may be too much for me to handle. The preview was sickening.
