I would want the teacher to know what a positive effect he/she is having on your son. Everyone can use some positive feedback. Anxiety is such a tough state of mind for the person and their family. So glad to hear that he is happy. My prayers are with you for his growth in self confidence.
This is so nice, thank you! He's in 6th grade, last year of elementary school. I will definitely let the teacher know. I emailed the principal in the past when I was happy with the teacher. (Never complained about the bad ones!).
The things that make him a good match? This teacher is calm, has a sense of humor, treats the kids like kids, but encourages them to advocate for themselves (meaning doesn't yell at them for making mistakes but tells them to come to him with problems rather than waiting until the problem gets bigger), allows the kids to enjoy learning and school, talks about himself so that the kids feel like they can get to know him, shows the kids fun stuff while they are learning which I think helps them remember stuff better, and the teacher is just very laid back, but in control. The teacher is just so nice to the kids, but still has excellent classroom management skills, so they are relaxed and able to learn.
I will absolutely nominate this teacher. I hope other parents will too.
Thanks everyone, I hope you all have a great year too.
