Subject: Bedtimes and wake up times for tweens
Wow, I'm envious of all these start times. My FCPS 8th grader has to wake up at 5:30 to catch a 6:15 bus. It's horrible. She's in bed by 9pm (with no electronics, for those who were about to scold me for that), but still can't really fall asleep until 11 or so.
Her MS starts at 7:25.

10 and 9 YO's go up at 8:15 and 8:30, but they read for a long time most nights. Wake at 7 during the week, all still sleeping last 8:45 this AM, though we had three kids sleep over last night

My 10 and 11 year old have an 8:00 bedtime and get up around 7:00 am. One I have to wake up, the other is usually up a few minutes earlier on his own. * we shoot for 8, it is sometimes later due to sports.

Wow, these seem like really early bedtime for tweens. I guess the don't have many after school activities or much homework. If my 12 year old is in bed at 10:30, that's a really good night. He's up by 6:45. I wish he could sleep an hour more, but his commitments don't allow it. In any event, he seems rested and does very well in school, so I guess it's enough...he has never required tons of sleep.

11.5 year old: weeknights 8:30-9pm. Lights off. Up at 7am. Weekends: can stay up to 9:30pm and sleep as late as she wants. She can sleep up to 12-13 hours easily on the weekends.

12 y/o, she's in bed by 9:30 and wakes up at 5:30 to catch the 6:45 bus. I'd like her to get more sleep.

Between 9 and 10. They go upstairs at 9 but don't always fall asleep right away. The older one (13) reads for longer than the younger (11). Kids get up at around 6:45 during the week.

I have a 12 year old who takes ages to fall asleep - so his bedtime is at 8:30pm, and he wakes up by himself after 7am.

12 year old DS. 9:30 pm during school night, 10 pm weekends. Wakes up at 6:15 am to catch 7 am middle school bus. Seems totally fine. Had 9 pm bedtime in 6th Grade.

When is lights out and get up time for your tween?
We have lights out at 8 o'clock and wake up at 6:15. Is that enough sleep? Child seems rested but boy I hate the idea of waking her up. Ever.
