Millions of kids need forever families. Plenty from backgrounds less cocktail-party sensational. Ask your DH's relatives if they can help you locate a reputable orphanage and start there.

Rohingya are not citizens of Bangladesh, they are Myanmar. Myanmar does not alllow foreign adoption at all.

The Rohingya are not citizens of Bangladesh unless Bangladesh now changes their laws. And Burma does not acknowledge them as citizens either so they are in a no-man's land.

The New York Times had an article featuring a Rohingya refugee child not too long ago. In response to the flood of inquiries from people wanting to adopt the boy they laid out a list of reasons about why it was next to impossible to do so.

Hi there. Just a couple of things you ought to be aware of, and perhaps do a little more research on. Firstly, "adoption" isn't strictly allowed for Muslim children in Bangladesh, as under the Islamic laws it would be a "guardianship". There are a couple of differences between the two (for example, the child does not legally inherit from the parents), but hopefully those won't matter if you don't live in Bangladesh. Secondly, I'm not entirely sure it would be possible to adopt a Rohingya child from Bangladesh, because the child would not be a Bangladeshi citizen. I would urge you to still try, and please do let us know what happens!

According to the Department of State, in the last 20 years there have been 188 adoptions from Bangladesh with 15 in 2016. I am not at all familiar with it but it certainly is happening.

I actually who have friends who did. The wife was from Bangladesh but the husband was not. I believe that technically SHE had to adopt legally, and stay in the country with the new baby for a set amount of time.

I would consult the embassy here. They may be able to direct you to the correct source.
