I was 40 with two young kids when I divorced. I had a positive experience out there. Had no interest in LTR, or at least that was not my goal. Had a lot of fun and then low and behold met someone amazing and we're a few years in, talking about merging households.

I have had a great experience. I have gone on lots of dates and have met some really great guys. It has been so encouraging for me and I have enjoyed it. Try Bumble

Okay, not forties, but thirties and divorcing with two kids. I am SHOCKED at how often I have been approached and pursued. I have a nice face and average body. You'll do fine, OP.

I'm 42 with two little kids and while getting dates is fairly easy, it is still not all roses. So many emotionally unavailable men in this age bracket. But, having said that--it is still fun.

When you are just dating, casually, it's great. Not as many good options if you are looking for LTR.

I'm 36 and my kids are a little younger, but it's been great. Jump in and try! Take breaks when it gets annoying. Have fun!

It's not bad and the PP's nicely summarize the sites. My kids are always curious about who I'm seeing but I haven't yet introduced them to anyone as I feel it needs to be heading to a LTR to do that. Obviously, the sex part is interesting.....to say the least. I don't "give it up easily" but the few experiences I've had have been very enjoyable once I got over the getting naked fear. After a few sex-less years it's been nice to be back.

Its pretty easy to find dates. I'm 40, two elementary aged kids, and totally just looking to date (no hurry to get married again). I've had the most luck on Bumble - the way that site works, it puts the power in the hands of the women, so you are way less likely to get the typical dick pics. I also had some luck on OK Cupid, but a lot more crazy come-ons from there.

I had pretty good luck on OKC getting matched with people who at least seemed to be in the realm of people I would date, even if we weren't a good fit when we met. I met the person I'm seeing now at a community event at a bar. I know plenty of people who use Tinder to date not just hook up, but there also seems to be more foolishness. And match seems to be more for people who are dating to find a serious relationship. [All of this is based my experience based on dating in my 40s)

I fit your profile, have not needed to try online dating yet - just changing my marital status on FB brought people out of the woodwork. Also my work enables me to meet a lot of different people.

What resources are you using to date? Just people you meet in person? Online sites? Any that you think are more geared to late 30s and up that don't want to have an LTR but also don't want to constantly be barraged by dic picks and shagging entitlement on the first or second date?

A lot easier than I thought it would be-plenty of people out there if you aren't looking for "the one."
