My sensory seeker is five and I have been curious about this too!

We are also looking at ADHD, but since she was a baby she has been very drawn to doing all kinds of things with her mouth that are sensory seeking, including making all kinds of noises, sometimes as soon as she opens her eyes in the morning.

Sound effects, exploding noises, instrument noises, and her favorite – kind of a juicy, hissing sound that she just does as sort of a fidget. She is perfectly happy and playing and will stop it if I ask, or do it more quietly, but she seems to love doing it and does it a lot. Drives me nuts too!

I have a growler. But I think it's more editorial. So I fear he will not outgrow!

My sensory avoider used to growl, I think he stopped sometime in the 2nd grade. He is one of those learners that has to experience it. For example, when he was learning about beavers, he built a beaver home out of shoe boxes in our living room and a dam at the door. He had to be the beaver. So, growling was part of another learning experience about various animals.

6 years old ... gun and explosion noises constantly .. usually while running, jumping down steps, swinging his arms .....

It's become a problem at school.
