It's the benefit of being in a school system like MCPS. They don't even verify addresses at our ES or proof of residency (we're at a FOCUS school). It will not be an issue.

OP here, this is all great advice thank you! Makes me feel better knowing he can go tomorrow.

I'll try to go get it done at UC care today otherwise, I already scheduled the appointment online for this week after school.

Can't you see if you can get the shot at an urgent care or a minute clinic?

You send your kid to school and get an appointment this week for his vaccination. Shouldn't be difficult.

My daughter was missing a hep B last year in first grade. The nurse called me on the phone in late fall and told me to have her vaccinated soon and send her the paperwork. Which we did within one or two weeks, can't remember. There was no pressure.

I teach in a public school and there is a grace period. Once it ends, admin rounds up the kids and calls home for someone to pick them up. Amazing how a day at home motivates parents to make an appointment.

Do you have an appointment scheduled? I'd go by what the poet says, being proof of the appointment and not worry about it.

You may also be able to go to a minute clinic or urgent care today and just get it done. Call around.

So our old pediatrician retired and with the transfer of everything to the new docs office, they messed up and told us we had everything we needed for school. I just got back from out of town and see the school sent a letter saying DS is missing 1 Hep B. So frustrated because he is starting K and already kind of nervous.

The letter (which was sent 9-1) says if they don't receive updated info by 9-5 then he can't go to school, but paper also says the regulations allow for 20 day grace period (assuming you show proof of appointment). I see this 20 day thing on MCPS website too but just want to see if anyone has dealt with this?

I'm worried about bringing him to school on the first day only to be told he can't come because of this date on the letter. Any advice appreciated!
