No one wants more crap in their homes. Make a batch of awesome cookies, stack about 6 of them and wrap in a cellophane bag with a cool ribbon or other tie, and send them off.

Consumables are win-win for all.

Wow, you guys spend a lot. We did $1-2/kid, though to be fair, they were very gently used books and did retail for $5-10/each. But at $5 x 20... obviously that's $100. And $10 x 25... I guess it depends on the number of kids and obviously your budget, but $100-300 is about 1/3 of our total budget for a party. We really couldn't afford more than $40-50 for favors, and I think there are a lot of fun ways to spend only that and not seem chintzy.

Maybe I should start another thread but I was wondering the same thing in regard to a Princess Party for DD. Should the party favor be a small figurine of the same Princess or different ones? I don't want anyone going home crying because all the Jasmines are gone.

$5-7, but I usually have almost 25 kids. I'd do more if I had fewer kids.

I think one of those diecast cars (don't get the expensive Lightening one) would be a great favor. I might add a cute cookie to it, but I know some parents don't like that.

About $10 per bag/gift. It is hard to get away with spending less.

$5-$8 depending on the number of kids. Always useful stuff, not junk.

We give out little books or Hot Wheels cars or "real" toys like that. I don't think$5 per bag is too much, although $10 is getting close. It also depends on if you've invited 4-8 or 30+ kids.

I spend very little, under the premise that no parent actually wants this extra stuff in their house, but its a traditional part of a birthday party so we do it. I try to do useful stuff like pencils/erasers, or candy/treat that gets eaten. Maybe homemade playdough if I have time. I am not so fond of the plastic stuff that is expensive and gets thrown out pretty quickly after the party.

A family friend has offered to supply the goodie bags for DS's birthday party. It is a "Cars" theme so she wants to include a packaged "Cars" in each goody bag along with gummies and a couple other things. Those cars are at least $5 a piece - sometimes $10 to get Lightening McQueen. I think it is too much but I fault on the frugal side.
