Thought the response was a bit snarky and directed towards a particular school.

Sad.

NP. That is one person's constant knock on CMI. Frequent daytime events they encourage parents to attend when they wrap up a unit.

Those are the schools that litter their hallway with art and projects and have performances every month to make parents feel good.

Our kids are in a mixed preK3 and preK4 and have 3 teachers to 19 kids. Their private little preschool was 2 teachers to 12 kids so this works out almost as well. We are pleasantly surprised (didn't realize there would be a full time 3rd teachers).

It's one of the simplest things to find out / ask at an open house or prior to enrolling.

Because I believe I was told when my child entered preschool at age 3 at this charter school that the number in PK4 would be 21 but it turns out now there are 24 kids in the class.

They likely had to ask for an enrollment cap increase. Its did two years ago (as did cmi)

You only have to get an enrollment cap increase if the total for all grades exceeds the cap (that was case with CMI).

For other schools if the upper grades arent' to capacity they can add to the younger ones.

I know someone who just pulled their kid from Appletree and put her back in daycare because the number of children enrolled is higher than they were told it would be.

DCPS allows no more than 18 PreK4s per class.

Some charters have fewer than that, some have more.

On average charters have 20 per PK4 class, according to this report from OSSE done in 2015.

Are there rules governing this? I am very surprised by the ratios in my kids prek4 class.
