Catch it and take it to the shelter as a stray. After a few times of paying to get it back, maybe they will get the message. Also, bag up all the poop and put it on their porch.

I had the same issue several years ago and mothballs helped a little bit but not totally. And I had white mothballs visible all over my yard.

Keep in mind cats help keep the rodent population down, naturally, without toxic chemicals. Part of the reason the plague happened in medieval times is because Europe was going through a cat-hating phase and they had killed off much of the cat population. Better to have cats in the neighborhood than rats.

Cats don't poop in grass. That's not how they roll. That said I agree that they do not belong outdoors. They're an invasive predator.

I agree. And I have 3 cats, but they are indoor only. A neighbor has an outdoor cat that comes up on our porch and torments my cats. I feel kind of bad for it because it will be on our porch at 4 am in the dark (I get up very early to workout.) But it still pisses me off that this cat trespasses on my property and bothers my cats.


Why do you feeL bad? Cats are nocturnal you know. Or you should, as a 3 cat owner.

While I generally love nature, birds are creepy and carry disease, and their sounds are not pleasant to my ears. I'd rather have spiders (and cats, obviously) than birds.

Yes, completely legal. Dating back all the way to colonial times, cats have been declared by law as "free-roamers". Deterrents are your only option.

Go to Ayer and buy bags of moth balls and sprinkle the in the areas where you have seen cat feces. The cats are repelled by them.

I know in our area its a fine of $50.00 for not picking up after your pet. Also isn't there a leash law? With all the sightings of foxes and coyotes I'm surprised they are letting their pet run freely. You have every right to be upset with having pet waste in your yard and the owner not picking it up.
