It's likely just a different title. There has always been an AP in charge of discipline and attendance. Sometimes, they also have other duties.
Actually, at my school they added this position. Separate from the APs who used to do it.

Anonymous wrote:I've recently noticed that some FCPS middle schools have a "Dean of Students" position. The MS my kids went through did not have this, at least not to my knowledge and there is nothing about it on their website. Anyone know what this position is for/how it is decided which schools have it and which don't?
