Subject: What's the largest age gap relationship you know that's successful?
Both my grandmothers married men twenty years older when they were teens.
My coworker married a man older than her dad. They've been together 15 years. She's younger than one of her stepsons and became an instant grandma.
A relative married a woman half his age and only seven years older than his oldest child. They've been married eleven years.

Married couple: 16 years. They met when she was 22; have now been married for 12 years (and 4 kids!). He's now 60 and she's 44. It generally works, however she has confided that while he has started to become an old man in his habits (doesn't like to socialize often, falls asleep on the couch early every night, etc), she feels in her prime and hates that she has to hassle him to go out and do things.
Unmarried: he is 61, she is 31. He was married when they met; she was his children's babysitter (...allegedly the affair didn't start until she was 18, but I don't think anyone really believes that). They're still together, which is pretty surprising to most of us. However, they're at a current standstill because she wants to have kids and he doesn't (want to have anymore, that is). He has proposed and everything, but she won't marry him unless he agrees to it and he doesn't seem to be budging. Not sure what will happen

NP here. I don't think that's so shockingly unusual, I know several couples where the woman is 10 years older and a ton where the woman is 3-5 years older.
Why should it be so shocking that a woman is older, when people are so willing to accept many other kinds of non-traditional relationships? It's like the last taboo but so hard for people to accept.
Let's not pretend there are not differences between men and women, especially when it comes to aging-both physical and societal

My cousin was 20 and she was 39. There was a lot of tension and arguments on both sides, My aunt had a lot of not nice things to say about her son's choice in partner they were estranged for awhile. Eloped ( sort of) I knew about the wedding. Family relations started to improve 6 years ago when their 1st was born.
20 and 39????!!!! He was a kid!
I could see 30 & 49, but why would an adult woman want to deal with a kid she couldn't even take to a bar???

I have two. One is my cousin. Her husband is 26 years older than she is. They've been married nearly 25 years. One of the happiest married couples I know.
Another is a couple that my friend worked for. They got married when she was 30 and he was 60. They were married for 30 years. She got cancer and passed away, leaving him a widow at 90. My friend said they were a very loving couple.

I don't remember the exact number, but DH was 20-25 years older. I only knew the DW, the DH had died several years prior- but it sounded like they were very in love and had a wonderful time. She did regret not having children- her DH had grown kids and didn't want more- and she lived for another 20+ years after he died, which seemed so sad.
