OP Here - signed up in late July. If there was a space at Anacostia, we missed it. The first series (pages) of close options College Board offered were all filled. Even tried another city, where we could drive the night before and stay with friends. There was nothing within an hour drive from there either, so we stayed home and drove west, which seemed easier than north of Baltimore. DC had a number of NOVA friends who tested in Winchester and Strasburg. Hope the cancellation in MD was only one school. Tough on the kids, and not their fault.

We registered for the test in May, so my DS took the test at his FCPS high school (which is walking distance to our house.) He said he saw a couple of kids wearing t-shirts from schools that are 30 miles away. He heard from two of his classmates who went to Maryland and their test was cancelled.

Our son tested in Forestville, from our house it was about 25 minutes (early am) coming home about 45. Testing didn't start until 9:00 due to the number or proctors, but once it started he said it went smoothly.

Many people had to travel a distance today, especially if you didn't register early. No problems reported by my DD who was only taking SAT II subject tests. In fact she thought the proctors were more prepared than when she took the ACT in DC.

Thanks PPs! Parent of a rising sophomore here. Thanks for the information.

Yes make a test plan at the beginning of junior year - decide on ACT or SAT and look at the test dates to map it out. Try to avoid test dates during AP test season. This is what we did to make sure our kids had ample opportunity to prep and improve.

We're in Great Falls and had to travel to Aldie (John Champe HS). About a 40 min. trip, so not as bad as some others.

The August test is new, and this year, MD schools aren't opening till September...therefore there was a shortage of testing sites, some proctors are still on vacation...
I live in DC, and when I looked for a site, the only openings were down in Anacostia. Since DD was going to uber, I decided to wait...

Yes - this was the first-ever summer administration for the SAT and sites were more limited than usual.

So many seniors took the test today to have an opportunity to improve their scores before applying to colleges in the fall. We registered for today's test at the end of June I think, and there were only spots left in three schools in the state of Maryland (none of them in Montgomery County)

Proctors showed up. DD swears there was no air condition in the room where she took the test. She says it was miserably hot and uncomfortable

92 miles each way?
From where to where?
If you are in the DC area, I know kids who took the sat at Anacostia HS.

and did the proctors show up?

Here: 92 miles each way, proctors showed up, test administered in classroom, conditions reported as fine.

Heard of others who drove out of state and had test cancelled bc proctors didn't show, or everyone tested in a big noisy gym.
