Yes, go vote for Keys Gamarra. It's a school board election so I'm sure very few people know the details of the four candidates. But efforts to limit voter participation should be stopped.

No, actually that is what the Democratic Party wants you to think. The GOP believes that voting should be limited to those who are voting legally.

I fail to see how having an election at an "off time" discourages people who know the issues and want to vote. But, I have worked the polls--you would be amazed at people who come to vote and do not have a clue as to who they want to vote for.

No, it's actually what Republican strategists involved in running elections will tell you. Try stepping outside of your partisan mindset. It's not about illegal voting. Do you have evidence of voter fraud being a major issue?

Regardless of party affiliation, as a democracy, we should make it easier for people to vote. If you've worked the polls, then you have options in life that aren't available to everyone.

Yup. Looking forward to undermining the whole effort to suppress voters

Do you even know the meaning of suppressing voters? Don't think so. No one is preventing anyone from voting.

So, you think holding a special election is cheap?

That's hardly a ringing endorsement. I don't see how having no relevant school experience (other than making a previous run, as Mr. Grisafe has also done for County Supervisor) qualifies Ms. Keys Gamarra. It's interesting to see the WaPo point to how "competing needs must be weighed and prioritized", which contrasts with Ms. Keys Gamarra's position on renaming of schools at a cost of millions of dollars. The point about working with County Supervisors is similarly odd in that Ms. Keys Gamarra has called for independent taxing authority for the School Board - effectively eliminating oversight by the County Supervisors. I understand that the WaPo is a Democratic aligned paper, so this "endorsement" is expected - but it hardly qualifies as insightful or important to the voters of Fairfax.

btw, the $250k or 300k that the WaPo (and FFX Dem party) laments as the cost of a "special election" is unsubstantiated and likely overstated by a Democratic State Department of Elections.

It's not coming out of school funds. And, it followed the rules. Hough should have lied?

It's coming out of state/county funds, which are the source of school funds.

Obviously, she could have delayed her resignation another 10 days. She showed up at later School Board meetings and gatherings of local Republicans.

The hypocrisy is glaring.
