This is so weird, like the post about the woman whose husband was questioned by police for a possible sexual assault - she immediately assumed he was guilty.

OP immediately thinks her husband is a white sympathizer. I would never think my husband was one, even if he had a whole slew of white supremacist tabs. This is what's concerning!

Clearly I can't tell anyone I know about this, which is why I have to post on an anonymous forum...

Why cant you just answer the question?

What kind of fu#ked up relationship do you have that you cant ask him yourself?

OP again. You are all actually making me feel a little better. I am probably over-reacting and I don't want to assume the worst about someone who has never shown these sort of tendencies before. I'm going to try and approach this with a cooler head.

Now I have to Google them, never had interest before.

I would not assume that he's a sympathizer unless you have better reason to. I would just assume that he's curious about the whackos.

I don't understand why you can't just ask him about it.

I'm attracted to train wrecks and have definitely gone down the rabbit hole a few times on a variety of topics. I'm just fascinated that there are people who believe certain things. Fortunately, DH is also curious about how others think and we can discuss and he doesn't see an open tab and assume the worst.

I have avoided confronting him

Can you just talk? It's life, not a soap opera.

And I've been reading Breitbart and Fox, because I want to know how Trump's base understands the world and what they're being spoon-fed, news-wise.

It's enlightening to do that kind of research.

Know your enemy, and all that...

I'm Jewish and VERY liberal and have been reading sites like that. Know your enemy, and all that. I also read sites that are probably for black people. I also read a bunch of blogs by Hapa women, and a couple of Mormon blogs.

I read a lot. And I don't just read things that mirror my life and my beliefs. What's interesting about that?

I don't think stormer has a web host any longer.

Maybe you should talk about current events instead of just guessing at what he's feeling.

Post 08/25/2017 21:56     Subject: husband has been reading white supremacist websites

I have discovered that my husband has been looking at several white supremacist websites over the past week or so. I discovered by chance after seeing a tab open on his computer. I have checked the browser history several times and he has repeatedly been looking at several of these sites (Daily Stormer and the like). He is a conservative, but not a Trump supporter--definitely more of a Commentary-type Republican than a Breitbart Republican. I'm genuinely shocked by this and I'm not sure what I should do. It is completely out of character for him.

Given that it is so out of character for him to read things like this, I'm hoping that it's only some sort of morbid curiosity triggered by all the coverage of these groups following Charlottesville (I noticed that he googled several of the people mentioned in news reports). But part of me fears that something has snapped inside of him and that this is the beginning of a downward spiral into a vile subculture.

I have avoided confronting him because I'm trying to get a sense of what is really going on here and once I tell him I know, I assume he will erase his browsing history so I won't be able to find out anything more. My hope is that this is just a weird bout of curiosity about something taboo, that he sees it for what it is, and will give up looking at the sites. But I just can't get over this fear that he will get sucked into it and our relationship will be destroyed. We have two young children, but I would consider drastic measures if I felt like he was actually starting to believe in white supremacist ideology.
