My cousin did that at that age or a bit older in the 80s. She was a single mom and became an ob/gyn. She went on to be head of her practice and made great money. She is still head of a large Seattle area practice and also owns a winery. Follow your dreams and ignore the naysayers.

I know another guy who had a phd in the classics and decided to go to med school in his 30s. Now late 40s and working as a neurosurgeon and making great money but extremely long and taxing hours.

Good friend of my family's made this decision in his late 30s, with two elementary-school-aged kids. It was a lot of work for him and his family, but they are all happy with the result. You can do it OP!

Go for it. The profession needs all the help it can get.

My friend's mom went to school to be a PA when I was in high school. She was older than 33. That was 25 years ago and she's still in practice and loves it.

I know how old I'll be when I likely finish, thanks for your concerns pps, but I'm capable of doing math.

I'm well aware of the cost.

I've always wanted to be a doctor. I talked myself out of it after undergrad for many reasons.

I've spent the last decade working, and trying to ignore the little voice n my head.

Maybe I won't succeed, but at least I will have tried.

Hey OP, a good buddy of mine did this while in her thirties and a single parent. I can't even tell you how proud I am to know her. Go for it.

Awesome, OP! You'll never know unless you try. Good for you for having the courage to chase your dreams. So many sit back and make excuses instead of trying. (See above...)

Our pediatrician did this at that age.

Her spouse is well-known and wealthy, so I guess she was just looking for a challenge.

Outside of circumstances like that, I'm not sure I can ever see the benefits out-weighing the costs.

If you start this year, you can do it--i know 2 women who have done this. However, I don't see how you could start this year since it's August already. But do it anyway. You'll be 41 when you finish--still young!

Some people never do and they live full, meaningful, happy lives. Do what you want, OP.

Go for it. You are intending to be a doctor and practice, after med school? Or do you just want the media school experience?
