Love Trixie! When I was a little girl I read a series about a girl detective named Trixie Belden.
I like that it's unique and no one else will have the name but it's not too "out there."

We have Beatrix and thought she would be Trixie but it didn't work for us. It sound a bit like a dog's name, but we still think it's cute and acceptable. I wouldn't think of it as a nickname for Beatrice though.

Trixie is fine as a nickname for Beatrice. It's not my favorite name, but it's cute for a little girl. Beatrice is a fine name. I know a couple, both adults and children. Most go by Bea.
As for associations, I think of Beatrice Potter. Trixie does seem like a name you might give your dog.
