38, I max out. DH is the same age and only contributes 5% (with a match) which is about all we can manage right now. Hoping for both of us to start maxing out once we get some debts paid off.

38, max. no match (biglaw attorney). only started contributing 5 years ago (previously worked for a solo with no 401(k) plan). balance is about 155k.

Maxed out, 39.

Earlier in my career, I only did a 5% match, but every time I got promoted I raised it higher and higher until it was maxed out.

39, max but DH has no retirement plan available so we're only contributing to mine
