A few questions: Are you proposing to this man? Are you a man proposing to another man? Or are you a woman proposing to a man a'la Topanga and Corey?

If so, find styles he likes, ask his friends. Do the same thing men traditionally do when they purchase an engagement ring.

Or is this simply symbolic and a gift to give your fiance something in return for your engagement ring?

If so, do you know he specifically WANTS a ring? I personally got my DH a nice watch as an engagement gift.

Hubby and I don't wear rings. I'm amused by people who think they strengthen a relationship.

This sounds like another industry ploy to get you to spend money. Like Hallmark turning so many holidays into major events that require cards and maybe roses or chocolates. Not that I ever turn down roses or chocolates, but just saying.

Except of course where somebody's culture does it already.

My husband has never worn a wedding ring....or any kind of ring......and I've never doubted his commitment to me! I, on the other hand, love rings!

In other cultures both the man and the woman wear a band to signify that they are engaged, but it is on the right hand instead of the left.

What does an engagement ring mean now anyway? Years ago it was like a down payment on a bride.

I've seen it on a few guys. I got DH a small gift instead, a Leatherman, that was engraved.

A friend of mine wore one. It was a plain band. Supposedly standard in his wife-to-be's culture?

Umm..well, if he wants one, it should be what ever style he likes.
