You do know, don't you, that there are extreme cases where the cheated-on spouse has gone ballistic and harmed themselves, their spouse, or others--even children? Could you live with yourself if someone died because of actions in which you participated?

Op here. I don't want him to! Part of why I'm tempted to go down this route is because I don't even want the possibility of a relationship.

Come on. You know that last part isn't true. Some men absolutely leave their wives for their AP. It may not be the majority, but I'd say it's in the 5-10% range.
