I want to focus on getting into better shape, getting stronger and leaner with as much intensity as possible - since I will finally have time - at least while the kids are at school. Would like to lose about 20 pounds or so, not more.
Any recommendations for plans, programs , online or in gyms in dc? I am mostly looking for something with great potential for motivation and some potential for camderaderie and big results. I think some help with nutrition would be good, beyond work out time.
Any experience with kenzai? Other programs??
Thanks!
A word of caution - if you are new or getting back into exercise, "as much intensity as possible" may be a recipe for injury. I know you want to lose weight and get fit, but slow and steady will be so much better for your well-being and long term progress.
I'd recommend trying a running program like Couch to 5k (3x a week), with 2 days of strength training (Barre?), and 2 rest days. With C25k, you'll naturally see your progress - and there are some great 5ks in December! You will likely be able to see your progress and do more in strength training, slow and steady. It's a good way to meet people, and a compliment to solo activity like running.
