OP, suggest you start with Dr Abbasi at Columbia Fertility Associates. Bring your prior records. She is experienced with treating the issues you describe, including the thyroid issues. (I don't suggest Shady Grove because they are not good for thyroid stuff.) Femara to cause you to ovulate early, plus trigger shot and IUI, could do the trick. And staying on the synthroid and metformin will lower your chances of miscarriage.

I did this regime, plus additional meds for blood clotting and immune issues, and had a successful pregnancy off my first IUI with Abbasi. And I was 36. At 27 or 28 you have a great chance assuming no other issues. And if there are other issues, an RE will be better suited to find them.

I'm on cycle day 61. We've been TTC for 13 months now with no luck. We are 28 and 27 so we have "age on our side". I finally caved and went to my OBGYN in April to try and figure out what's going on. I found out that I have PCOS without the cysts- I have excess hair growth on my face, slight insulin resistance and hypothyroidism too. I've been on .75mcg of levothyroxine since May and my thyroid went from 8.1 down to a 2.2 as of last week so that's currently normal. My endo has me on 2,500mg of metformin (5 a day) since June and my A1C is at a 6.1 as of last month. My OBGYN said she'd start me on clomid if the metformin didn't work but said she felt that it would as she's seen lots of women get pregnant with metformin alone.

Well I started metformin in June, had a 5 day period about a week after starting it and have had no period since. Today is cycle day 61. I've tested using cheap internet strips about 1-2 times a week over the last few weeks and all are negative. My OBGYN had me go for a quantitative hcg blood test yesterday and that came back negative today. Waiting to hear back from her on next steps but I'm just feeling so frustrated. I've NEVER gone this long without a cycle. My periods are irregular but never like this. I'm more likely to spot on and off or bleed for 2 weeks then to miss periods.

I've been using ovulation strips and a few times they have gotten very close to a positive but not quite there. As of today, they are starting to get dark again. I just really want a baby and am getting depressed over this.


Has anyone dealt with anything similar? Is it even possible for me to get pregnant now with this long of a cycle? Or do I have to take something to restart my cycle?
