I can't imagine no dates in 11 years. I assume you have zero sex drive. Everything that is completely G rated on a date is a bit awkward.

How about the driving range at East Potomac Park, if you have ever golfed? You can hit balls from neighboring stalls and then grab a beer on the deck of the clubhouse. There's also a mini golf course.

I think activities are better.
Great First dates I've been on
Pizza Making & bCookie baking a complimentary course
Paint & Vino
Bowling & Mini Golf
Rock Climbing & Roller Skating
Zoo/Aquarium/Museum ( best was children's museum)
Brought our dogs to the dog park and played.
Normally grab a quick bite to eat after.
I find conversation tends to flow more naturally when you are doing something together other than facing each other and sipping drinks.

Good luck!

These, as a woman, are what I'd want to do. Except the children's museum, that a little pervy.

Why does your mind automatically go to something dark? I too went on a date to the children's museum and it was a lot of fun, the one in the city I was living in was also a tourist attraction.

Awkward is perfect!

Make sure he picks next if there's a date two.

Roller skating and rock climbing could both turn out extremely awkward ....

Do you drink, OP? I'm not suggesting that you plan on getting drunk, however a glass of wine might help ease the awkwardness.

Where do you live? Why does getting a drink with someone feel awkward?

So I'm finally ready to get back into the dating world after being divorced for 11 years. I met a guy online and he would like to go out and asked me to pick the place. I'm a little on the shy side and like I said, I've been divorced 11 years and haven't dated so this is the first date I've had in a long time. I would like to do something that won't seem so awkward as I'm not trying to scare the man off. Any suggestions?
