I wonder if it was a space issue or a budget issue.

They will get add'l $ for the spec ed classrooms and associated teachers and staff. That wouldn't affect the budget, but could possibly affect space.

Why don't they open another section? Last year there were 6 K classes.

It's totally crazy. One of the things that make DCPS elementary schools is small class sizes. They should have made 6 K classes, just like they did last year. And I don't know why they only have 4 5th grade classes, when clearly 5 would be more appropriate.

Just curious because I have no concept... how big is the building? Do they have spare rooms if they have to add classes?

LOL, I guess the rich right plight into the city didn't fix things. Go figure, liberalism at its' finest when libs are complaining that their children are in the same situation as most of the children in the city. Justice.

All five K classes have 28 kids, and we all know more probably will show up on the first day who aren't enrolled at this point. At what point does DCPS realize there needs to be another teacher? That is too much.

That is a lot of kindergarteners in a room.

I think OP means at least 27.

WOW that's a lot for 5 year olds!

How can a class be 27+?

It would either be 27 or 28 or 30...

Anyone else think that the class sizes for 5 and K are outrageous. K 27+
