Yes. Since they were old enough to understand and in ways that are not scary.
Age 1-2: your body belongs to you. You do not have to hug or kiss anyone you don't want to.
Age 3-4: This is private. Your body belongs to you. You can say no.
Age 5-6: No one should be touching you *here* unless a doc needs to for medical reasons, or parent for toileting/care reasons
Age 7-8: Don't go into someone's house you don't know. You can always call me. if anyone makes you feel uncomfortable, you can speak up.
etc, etc.

I have been talking to my kids about molestation and sexual abuse since they were 3 or 4, especially since one has SN and is more vulnerable. Yes, please do talk about it. The percentage of children and teens who get molested and abused is alarming.

If you don't someone will blame you if (God forbid) anything happens. Check out the thread in MCPS where one of the posters blames parents when a young girl was molested.

OMG I would HOPE not -- boys are just as likely to be victims, if not more so!

I have been, since she was little. Now she's about to enter 9th grade and I'm starting to shift to abusive relationship talk, but we still talk about the same stuff we did when she was a kid.

I think by teen years it's way too late.

Yes, from a young age, ongoing, and age appropriate.

Do you plan to talk to your teen about sexual abuse? That story about teacher's aide abusing students just freaks me out! Worse kind of night mare for any parents
so sorry for the students!
