That's the instate school we wouldn't pay for

Ok, there are some good reasons not to choose any particular school. What was your problem with Berkeley?

UVM as it would be a perfect fit for DD

Our older DC goes to Purdue because it was a better fit than VT.

The best public school? UT Austin or UCLA.
The best private university? Stanford or Yale.
The best liberal arts college? Pomona or Amherst.

It depends on the atmosphere they prefer, but if I had a say, I'd recommend going with one of those six colleges.

I cannot imagine "sending" my child anywhere. It is HIS college experience. It's not mine, it's not my husband's, not his girlfriend's. He is the one who will be living there for four years, going to classes, etc.

I loved my time at a top 20 school. It was really perfect for me. But you asked about my kid. For him, I'd pick Curry in Massachusetts.

what is your goal with this question?

I'd love for him to want to go to Cornell's engineering school and I'd want him to be the kind of kid who would thrive there.

If you asking "what's the best state school"? Really depends on what you are looking to study.

Illinois. I'm really just looking for an excuse to go back and tailgate. It's less sad as a middle-aged person if you have a kid attending.
