19 years for my current company, but several different jobs within the company.
I interned here as a college student, so I've literally never worked for anyone else except for normal summer jobs as a kid.

I'm in year 8 at the same company/level. My role has changed slightly over the years but they were lateral moves.

I regret staying this long every single day. Finding a new job has been very difficult because employers assume I'm a loser since I haven't advanced at all at my current company. Can't say I disagree with them at this point.

11 years, then 13 years, and now 6 years. Advancement at the first two, already at the top of the current one. It wasn't that hard to move and in fact was energizing both times.

I stayed with my company 24 years. I shouldn't have.

12 (almost 13) years at the same govt. position. No upward mobility. I should have left sooner. The transition to another position was rough, and I'm still not back to making what I was there.

Yeah, it helps that I like working here and I've had a parade of really good bosses. It's certainly never boring, either!

My role has changed, from mid-level scientist to chief scientist.

I did 3 yrs, 3 yrs, 2 year MBA program, 8 years. I should have left at year 4 or 5.
Re: transitioning. If you are not a Boss, just observe, made suggestions and learn the culture, work processes, office politics in order to be effective. Do not trust anyone and only say nice to neutral things about stuff. Eventually you'll figure things out. If you are the boss, same thing but you have 12 months to put things in place, explain, and build team culture, clarify roles, etc.
