This - my Dh left the FDA for industry to do regulatory work focusing on policy and working with the industry group for the company. Pays as well as in house counsel at this company, similar level of stress.

Just to add to the story, he worked for a law firm right out of law school in a somewhat sciency legal field. He really didn't like it and moved into public sector legal work (of a sort, not probably what would immediately come to mind). When he returned to law, he also went into a pretty nonremunerative legal setting. He is well known in his field and loves the legal work, but does sometimes miss the paychecks he got in his first job.

I work for a bar association. I put on programs and help develop resources for members. You might be surprised at how many specialized bars there are.
