this has been the same for us over the past 9 yrs. Two different houses. Currently 2800 sq ft (above ground). Previously 2600 sq ft. In the winter, it flips and our heating (gas) is at the 175-220 level... while electric goes way down. Right now (summer), our gas is about $30/mo.

For those who do solar, where do you live and how did you do this? I'm in VA and Dominion doesn't appear to have a solar rooftop program -- it looks like I'd need to figure out how to purchase and interconnect rooftop panels....

5500 sqft. Built in 2011. Day time set back to 75F. Or else it's at 70. 69 during sleep hrs.

Ours is $400-500/month. We live in an older home and my DH has tropical fish tanks which take a lot of energy. Plus we keep the house cool.

$90 per month. 3,600 sq. foot house and we use a programmable thermostat.

I'm the PP with solar - yes, we basically net to zero electric bills from April-November, including the fixed distribution costs from the electric company. Keep in mind that the amount of sun in any given month impacts production (ie, there's less sun and therefore less solar production in October compared to June/July).

In 2016, our total bill for each of those months was:

Ours is the same, for a house with about 2400 sq feet over 4 floors. We have to keep the A/C during the day as well because people are there.

Our's is about $170/mo, 2400 sqft house. Temp set at 77.

3,200 square foot house …. $600.00 per month and this is with new insulation throughout a 72 year old house and new roof, windows. Two zone, but also work out of house so multiple computers and such in use 5 plus days a week.

Around $140 if it's very hot. 2000 sq ft house, temp set between 76-78 all day.

Before solar, ours was $100-$175/month.

With solar, we produce more than we use in the summer months (but have electric heat/hot water so do not have a net negative electric use over the entire year).

This for a very small 900 foot house and basement (which has heat/AC). Used to be $400 before we got insulation in the basement, new siding, windows, roof and HVAC.
