How shallow is that planter? I'd say your plants can't root deeply enough to support themselves. I'd stake peppers, too.

As for toppling over, how could a zucchini plant do that? The bush variety is very low to the ground, and the vines are . . . vines.

Just buy some stakes and support them. That's what you need to do with most vegetables. Zucchini can be trellised. Google for ideas.

But there are cheaper ones that will work just as well.

You need to put a cage up. Plants need support because they get top heavy.

They're perfectly healthy and look great until they topple over (this year after a large storm). I don't remember which variety we planted...

Two summers in a row we've planted vegetables in our EarthBox (last year was peppers, this year zucchini). We've planted them according to their instructions and both times, the plants grew beautifully, we started seeing the first vegetables, and then the plants toppled over! What are we doing wrong?
