Be respectful. Find a sitter. Lack of planning on your part should not result in inconvenience for everyone else.

Tell your DH to come home early, get a sitter, or just get one on vacation.
Most people at the salon think of manis/pedis as their "me" time. There is always a chance your child will act out, and you won't be able to relax either. M

No you don't take a 14 month old to a salon.
Hire a sitter or do your own nails.
My salon expects you to reschedule if you don't have child care. They aren't child friendly. Even the owner doesn't bring her kids in.
Leave your kids at home unless there's a play area set up.

It's very rude to other customers. I have a three year old and another one due any day and I was so frustrated this weekend when I went during nap time and the lady sitting next to me had her 5 month old with her who was on and off fussing. I just can't think of any situation where a pedicure is an emergency that you need to have one badly enough to disrupt others by bringing your baby/young toddler. If you can afford pedicures you can afford a sittter.

Sounds miserable. Just do your nails at home during nap time.

First I don't understand why anyone couldn't do their nails themselves.
Second, the fumes are NOT minor and nobody has any business bringing vulnerable people such as children to a salon.

I am not worried about a one time fume exposure. General urban living is much worse, IMO. That said, I took my then 4 month old to get a pedicure with me. Worked great. No way you could pay me to take my kid at 14 month old. Too curious and busy to not create total chaos. I understand the pickle you're in, but babysitter or after bedtime is my vote.

OMG, just hire a sitter for an hour. It's summer, you can find a neighbor high school kid to do this.

I managed this today with my almost 3-year-old and my six-month-old (who sat on my lap). It was fine.

I wouldn't worry about such minor fume exposure.
Are you planning to have him on your lap?
Mine wouldn't sit still for a minute at that age, and you'd be hard pressed to get up and run after him.

I would get a babysitter, OP. The fumes are pretty intense and I can't imagine he will sit quietly for the whole pedicure.

Are you in the city? Mimosa salons are open until 11pm. I've just started doing latepedis after my husband is home and we have dinner since I do worry about bringing the baby in with the fumes.
If you have to take DS just go on a weekday outside of the lunch hour so it's more likely to be quiet and show him videos on your phone. You'll probably have to forgo the spa pedicure/hot towel goodness and just tell them to clean things up and get that paint on real quick!

Just get a babysitter. This is seriously the perfect occasion to hire someone. It is only a couple of hours, if something goes wrong you can always leave, and if she doesn't seem to get along with your baby, then you don't have to go at all. But you need people in your life that can help you out. We all do.

does this sound like a terrible idea? I didn't think I'd be one to ever ask this as I think the fumes are probably toxic but their door is usually open. I just am desperate clearly. I really wanted to get one before vacation since I never go but DH gets home from work to late for me to go alone. Has anyone brought a non-walking 14 mos old with them to do this? He is a very laid back kid and is also very quiet. If anyone has done this what did you do to occupy them? I suppose I should forgo the pedi
