OP - I think most people are fine with gifted kids but people hate bragging parents. And guess what? You will find out one of these days when your gifted kid is older that he really wasn't THAT gifted...

I bet this is not true at all. When my coworker brags about how gifted his son is, I just say, "how nice!" But what I am thinking is, please go away and leave me alone to do work.

Same here, OP. Whenever I tell my co-workers that my 8 year old is a day trader they clearly act like they are jealous.

I just don't get why people can't be proud of him. I mean they weren't even impressed when I sent them the link for his newest book which they can purchase on Amazon.

I do not discuss my children with my co-workers. I do not particularly care to hear about theirs either. Please realize that while you love your children very much and truly believe ( as you should ) that they are fascinating, wonderful, special, gifted or whatever else, the rest of the world doesn't care one way or the other.

Perhaps the way you're talking about it is off putting to people - not the fact that your child is very bright.

I make rude comments to people who constantly brag, too. Then, said people stop bragging. See how it works?
