DH works downtown but he is also often out of the country for work, which is why we're trying to lessen my commute. His is currently around 1hr 20min with his drive to the metro and metroing in. Just wondering whether it's be any worse than it is now.
For those of you who say the area is bland (but walkable, that sounds nice) - is it easy enough to get to areas like FFX, Vienna, and Tysons if we want a change of place? Our current place makes it easy to either go to Rockville, Bethesda, or downtown SS when we feel like venturing out.
That is a hard commute. Chantilly would be a big improvement. Where does your spouse work?
If you work at GMU - why not City of Fairfax or Burke? What is your budget?
DH gets off at McPherson Square, so in some ways his metro ride would be an improvement, no need to change lines, just getting to the metro would take longer.
We're looking at FFX or Burke as well, but we're hoping to find something newer with comparable to space to what we have now and it just doesn't fit into our budget. We'd like to stick around 600k but could go up to 700k if we super stretched. I just really do not want to be constantly fixing up a house like we did this time around - I'm just sick of it. We like the idea of buying new construction if we can and Chantilly seemed to have options in our price range.
