At least in Arlington, they will allow parents to override the Math placement recommendation either up or down.

You don't. I'm assuming your kid missed the PA Algebra cut off? It is what it is. Math 7 honors is fine, and still tracks to Calculus BC.

If it is under 400, the school does it before school is out with the permission of the parents. Otherwise, the student has passed and there is no need to retake the test.

you don't retake it anymore. Did your child fail or just not get Pass Adv (and you want the kid to go to Alg. in 7th)?
Those who were eligible to retake had to be in the 375-399 zone (just below passing). Other kids don't retake it -- especially in ES -- b/c it does not keep them from passing on to the next grade. In HS, kids have to pass a certain number of state exams in order to get a diploma. They do re-takes all the time. But, ES kids... no.

You don't, at least for this most recent test administration. The window closed on June 16.
