Ok with charcoal? A gas grill is pointless. Its like cooking in the broiler. If you have functioning taste buds, there's no comparison. Cookung on gas grill is like baked ziti to Italy.

My friend told me he's very happy with his knock-off Egg, much cheaper than the real thing but apparently just as sturdy and well-made.
Don't get the knock-off if you can afford a real BGE. There is a difference and you only live once.

Anonymous wrote:You already have a grill, so get him a Weber Smoky Mountain for smoking meats. It costs $300. That is $550 less than the typical Big Green Egg.
Take that $550 and it on:
- a pair of allbirds for him, the most comfortable shoe ever
- a pair of prana hybridizer shorts for him, the most comfortable shorts ever
- a six pack of Stone IPA and a 4 pack of dogfishhead 90 minute beer
- a starter kit for his Smoky Mountain: a wireless thermometer, a bag of charcoal briquette, a bag of hardwood charcoal, a bag of applewood and a bag of mesquite
- keep the remaining $300 for yourself
