That time change would be a nightmare to me and kids. My kids were always very structured and on a tight timeline.... changing it just one hour was tough. I cannot imagine taking an 8 mos old on that long of a flight nor dealing with that age and a time change like that. I would never do this.

honestly the baby will probably adjust to the time change better than you will.

All 3 of our kids went to Hawaii under 1 year. Best vacations ever, even with a 4 year old, 2 year old and an infant.

I would think most are from the west coast, though. We took our kids at 2 and 4 and again 2 years later. Its far, but worth it.

It definitely can be done. I don't think it will be relaxing at all for you. By 8 months neither of my kids would just sleep on the go anymore like they did as newborn. Be prepared to cater your schedule around naps/bedtime. Might be easier if you can get grandparents to tag along to help babysit, especially during wedding events. Maybe make it a week long extended family vacation

Absolutely go. My kid has been to Hawaii at 5 months, 10 months 18 months and 23 months. You can wear the baby in an ergo like carrier, this gives you use of both hands and keeps the baby contained. Have fun!

The flight and the time change would be the issues for me. I think you can do it, it's just whether it's worth it to you.

What is crazy about it, OP? Hawaii is part of the United States! Safe, good weather and beautiful. Your baby will be happy.

Dd was 10 months when she went to Hawaii with us last year. It is a very easy place to take a baby. We stayed at a hotel that catered to kids and had an amazing vacation.

Of course it can be done, since babies that age are very portable.

But please check with your friend whether they really want babies at their wedding. I would, but I've gathered that some don't. I would not leave my baby with a random babysitter just for the wedding.

Close friend is getting married in Hawaii and wife and I are considering implications of taking our then 8mo old daughter.

Is this just a terrible idea or can it be done?
