Pp who chose girl after boy - it's true - sometimes we have too much control/information. For some reason to me it makes more sense to choose a boy if you have a girl bc you're sort of saying I would like one of each, I would like the parenting experience of each gender. But to choose a second girl somehow does seem more "greedy" as far as choosing goes, but it's all relative bc it's such a bizarre world we live in with all this info and control! I think the bigger decision is how your DH feels... my DH was totally on board with choosing a girl. Now we have 3 frozen left - 2 boys and 1 girl - and if we have another - we are undecided I don't think I would choose again bc I already have one of each. I will just tell them to pick the best graded embryo. But I think we're done

OP here. I know, right? A lot of ppl I know think that having a girl and about is the perfect combination. Truth to be told, I just want another child, esp. since I just had a miscarriage and realize it doesn't matter. But of course, once I was asked the question if I would like to gender select, I forgot what really matters.

I'm the Pp who wanted a girl and chose girl after having my first boy. I just thought obviously having one of each was preferable. Funny that Op wants 2 girls bc when I started reading the thread I assumed that she wanted to pick a boy bc she has a girl. To each their own!

We did PGS testing and so far it seems that we only make blasts of one sex. While it's disappointing I'd rather know this than wonder about what's still left in the freezer.

OP here. I am on the fence as I said in my original post. It's not all black and white to me. I want to think this through and not regret the decision to gender select if given the option. To the poster who said we are playing god, we already are by doing IVF.

If DH is "certain" he doesn't want to even know, let alone want to do gender selection, why post here? How would you feel if you didn't want to, but your husband went ahead and did it anyways? Seriously, this is an open and shut case.

I wanted two girls and had two girls. It's fantastic and I understand the preference. Still I wouldn't do it.

I had a DS from my first IVF and we did PGS when we tried for #2. We also didn't realize gender selection was available when we started the PGS process. Once we learned we told them to transfer a girl first. That girl didn't take so we did a second girl and she took. She's now 2.5. I don't regret the decisions at all. I can't imagine life without her. Those 2 girls were also equally the best grades embryos we had or tied with the boys so I didn't feel like I was putting in a "worse" embryo just bc it was a girl.

Doing PGS testing for the first time at SGF, and realized that they now allow gender selection. When we went through a fresh cycle two years ago, gender selection wasn't an option. DH is certain he doesn't want to know or select the gender and I am on the fence. We have a DD from that fresh cycle and I thought it would be great to have two girls.
