I could see some parents may think a weekend at a beach house full of teens sounds ripe for debauchery, so who cares if DD didn't get to go. Or who cares if the party girls didn't come to her graduation party. Just wanted to assuage that. This was a good group of girls.

Ha. I looked clean cut to parents when I was a teenager. I wasn't.

Poor kid. Harsh reality is that her friends didn't schedule around her weekend plans and this must hurt a bit. I would be upset too if I was stuck at an adult party while my friends celebrated without me.

I don't blame your daughter for being upset if she thought her friends were coming to her party and then all went away without her at the last minute. How long ago had she invited them to her party? Had they RSVP'd?

Where are the girls who are leaving in a week going to college? Are they going to service academies, which start during the summer, or just starting at a regular college during the summer session? I'd have a little more sympathy for kids going off to a service academy and they want a fun weekend before a summer of what is essentially basic training.

Was your daughter invited to the beach house weekend?

No. I'm the first pp and have never heard of this. Maybe that's why her friends didn't come. They didn't know what it was.

Timing was unfortunate for your daughter. IME graduation parties are for the parents more than the kids and kids don't have that much control over when they can go to someone's beach house. So all around it sucked for your daughter. Did you invite her friends to your party?

What's an open house?

She's taking it personally. Her big core group of friends decided late last week to go to a family beach house. She was sulking Saturday, the day of her open house. I saw she tweeted a couple passive aggressive tweets about "real friends." I told her to delete them. She showed me their instagram photos and all of them were saying "best weekend of my life!" It was like a last hurrah because a few of the girls are leaving for college in a week.
