Hi. I was in the same boat here and luckily I had a friend around for the holiday weekend for a procedure @ Shady Grove. Huge life saver. Like someone had mentioned in this post, start building if you can, your Baby village and trust me it's not easy when you're not trying to have your business out there. I've only let 2 ppl know my plans for now. I wish I knew you personally because I would have been glad to help you out. Good Luck!

The only thing I had to be driven from was the egg retrieval. I had all the tests, hsg, cvs, paracentesis after OHSS and that was really THE only one.

Shady Grove requires the person driving you to sit in the waiting room during the procedure if you're having anesthesia. I always asked friends. It was a good way to start building the baby's "village." She's asleep on my lap right now. Good luck!

If you are TTC the biological way (intercourse), then why wouldn't you just ask the man who is providing the sperm?

I am single mom by choice.

Ask if you absolutely need anesthesia for the procedure or test because there are times when you don't and it's for comfort and convenience. If they say you don't medically need it, then think about your own pain tolerance level and comfort and see if you are willing to go without. If so, ask them to direct you to facilities that will accommodate your request. They exist btw.

The kind of service that you want to look for is a home health service that can provide an aid to drive you to the appt, wait, and drive you home and stay with you if you want. It's pricey but they exist. You could also get an CNA who has a day off and pay her to do this as well.

If you are having trouble finding a friend/relative to drive you home from a procedure, you really need to build up your support system before taking on single parenting

all the best to you but

She didn't say she was having trouble, she said she was hesitant to ask. Part of that could be the nature of the procedure. Maybe she doesn't want to advertise what she's doing.

In my experience people are more willing to help out with children than they are with medical stuff. Also, if you've enough money, you can pay for day care, backup care, nanny, etc.

I don't have experience with this exactly, but every time I've had a procedure that requires someone to take you home, I've been told that calling a cab or an Uber or whatever isn't an option. It has to be someone who will make sure you get home and get settled at home and that person has to be sitting in the waiting room before they would even do the procedure.

Ask a friend to pick you up. Good luck!

PP, why do you say ugh? B/c she's a single mom by choice? either way, your response is not helpful to her question.

OP, I'm married so my husband drove me home but if he wasn't available, I would ask a friend. The clinic may not allow you to go home unless the person is sitting there in the waiting room. I bet there's someone who would be willing to help you during this time. I know if any of my friends asked me to drive them home, I would.

When you have tests or procedures that require someone to drive you home after, who does it? I'm hesitant to ask anyone and might just catch an Uber.
