frequent flier here. The dentist can usually fix this quickly and easily without removing the temp crown. They just adjust it by filing some of the thickness down. Leaving it too high might make it sore when you bite down. Give your dentist a call and let them know it’s not comfortable.

Not normal. Temp should feel just as comfortable, or close to it, as the permanent that will go in. Did your dentist already take impressions for the permanent crown to go in? Either way, make sure the dentist does not cement it in until you feel like it is a good fit and feel. They can keep grinding down the temp tooth to make a final impression on that one (once it feels good). -Signed, person who just had 10 crowns replaced (due to medical issues)

+1 I've had this happen before and the temp crown actually came off but if it's not hurting, you can just wait until your appt. When you go back, let your dentist know the temp was high.

I have temporary crowns on my two front teeth. Never had before. It is so uncomfortable. Feels too big, too thick and I am so scared my permanent ones will be the same way

Good to know PP. It almost feels like there isn't enough room to eat on that side as the temp crown is in the way. Will mention all this to dentist when I go back for permanent one.

I got one this week and it's also big. My dentist warned me that's what it would feel like. It seems to be made of a flexible material because the bite has adjusted and isn't as awkward now. The first couple of days my mouth was sore and I think that made it feel worse. Now (3 days in) it feels okay but I will still be glad to have the permanent one.

Ye stenp ones are different material. My real one feels no different from a normal tooth.

Yes, it just feels like it is always hitting the back tooth when I sneeze or eat, like it is too bulky. Glad to hear it isn't uncommon for temp crowns to feel like this though.

Your complaint is quite typical and your mouth (you) will get use to it pretty quickly. I've had many and they always feel this way.

It's very easy to adjust and re-insert a temporary crown. Definitely go back and ask to have it adjusted.

The temporary is not going feel perfect, but it should not make you uncomfortable. Give yourself a couple of days to get used to it. If it still bothers you after that, have the dentist adjust it further. Signed, someone who has a mouthful of crowns.

I've had two different crowns placed and the temporary ones never fit right.

And hits against my back teeth when I eat (It is an upper molar that the crown is on). I am having the real crown fitted in a fortnight but is this normal?
