Wanted to give you a positive story, op! Both of my babies measured a week and a half behind in the beginning (this is when i tracked ovulation and days we had sex...knew for certain the date we conceived our first). Always worried me when the babies were measuring smaller, but they always caught up by 10 weeks (and often measured ahead). I think my kids just grow slowly at the beginning.

Sperm can live for up to five days. So, if you had sex on 5/13, you might not have actually conceived for a few more days. With all of my pregnancies, I got a positive test at 9 DPO. So, if you conceived on 5/18, you could have gotten a faint positive on 5/27 and the baby would only be measuring off by a few days. I would call your doctor and ask for a follow up ultrasound. But, the odds are in your favor that everything is okay.

I'm not really using that date for anything because I was still on the pill. But based on travel schedules, the last day we had sex was may 13 (until Memorial Day weekend when I got the negative and then positive tests). So, 6 weeks 1 day doesn't add up.

OP here - thanks for all the support. I'm going to call my OB first thing in the morning to schedule another ultrasound and will keep you posted.

PP here urging another ultrasound. I'm sorry OP, don't mean to worry you unnecessarily. Fetal heart rate from 120-160 is normal, and once you hear that heart rate, your chances of miscarriage are under 5%. But having been on the wrong side of that stat in the past, I would urge you to do some follow up testing, particularly given the discrepancy in dates. Chances are all is fine and you are in the 95% where all is well.

Definitely covered by insurance. I had weekly ultrasounds In first trimester atarting at 7 weeks because of concerns that I might be miscarrying.

You should request one because the date you think you ovulated was significantly earlier than when today's ultrasounds would imply you ovulated (about 10'days off by my calculation). It could be that you and the ultrasound are both off and all was fine. It could also be that the baby's growth has slowed down because of a chromosomal abnormality or other issue, and you are miscarrying.

If you get in for an ultrasound say, next Wed, and the fetus shows 7 days of growth, the likely you were just off on dates. If it only shows a day or two of growth, then that is a sign that the pregnancy is not viable. Even if it's not, the odds are that you will go on to have a healthy pregnancy next time.

Based on DH's and my travel schedule, I am pretty sure it had to have been May 13. I guess this could be one of those situations of the sperm staying alive in there for up to 5 days, which is so bizarre!

Also, first trimester ultrasounds are the most accurate, but still have a range of 5 days or so. If your dates were a little fuzzy, you could still be in the same window and just have a smaller or slower growing embryo.

Most people implant 9 dpo, so after that -- maybe day 11 with a sensitive test. I would ask for another ultrasound to confirm growth if you have think you are further along than the ultrasound shows.

I've tried googling and there are a lot of different responses with different indicators, and I'm a bit confused.

Background: I took a pregnancy test on May 27 and saw THE FAINTEST of faint lines, so I took a first response and it was negative, which I believed. On a whim that I can't even explain, I took another test on May 30 and it was positive. Based on my guess for when I conceived, I believed I was about 7 and a half weeks along, but I had my first ultrasound today and was told I am 6 weeks and one day. I'm a little baffled.

As a sidenote, I saw the teeny tiny heartbeat and I am still in awe that this is real. Alternating between terrified and excited.
