Agree with Montemart but no bad food to be had in Paris. It's Paris!

I agree that Montmarte is the place to go - you can spot the good ones

Oops 9:52, just realized you said "not overly touristy". La Cave Gourmande is very good, and when I say they cater to tourists I mean they cater to tourist that are looking for the classics of escargot/beouf bourguignon /etc.

La Cave Gourmande in Montmarte! It is exactly what you're looking for. They seem to have the tourist beat down because they feature all the classic French dishes that we knw or are likely to order. Very good food!

This will not be hard to find.

I just had a great meal in Paris at Hugo, near Gare du Nord.

There are great prix fix lunches in Paris, and we prefer those to elaborate fattening dinners late at night. Try Chez Allard in St. Germaine for a classic French full service traditional lunch. Rotisserie d' en Face is a more casual and reasonable restaurant in the Alain Ducasse family of restaurants. Also Aux Lyonnaise is a classic bistro with great food. Our favorite little neighborhood easy restaurant is Chez Fernand on Rue Christine, also in St. Germaine in a nice walkable area afterwards full of little shops and fun. Good luck!

Any neighborhood brasserie (red tablecloths, candles) will have escargots, which are sort of tourist fare these days. For a really authentic French meal find a good small bistrot with a menu that changes daily. Some of my favorites are L'os a Moelle, Che's l'ami jean, le cinq mars.

L'Ange 20. We ate here before they expanded into their new location. Fantastic.

I am looking for something that is not overly touristy, very "French" (we can get escargot, etc.), and mid-range in price. Any suggestions?
